Omaha Event: USA Triathlon Age Group 2017 Championships, 12-13 August

The triathlon is an Omaha event for the second year and winners will qualify for the 2018 ITU Standard-Distance Triathlon World Championships in Gold Coast, Australia. Saturday’s event is for Olympic distances (1500m swim, 40km bike, 10km run), while Sunday’s event is for sprint distances (750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run). The event starts at 7am both days and is free to watch, but costs $109-$179 to take part in.

Omaha Event: Lauritzen Gardens Sweet Corn Festival, 12-13 August

Try several kinds of sweet corn, taste various corn dishes, see corn artwork, navigate the children’s garden corn maze, and learn about corn through various activities designed for adults and children. Hours are 9am-5pm both days; cost is $10 for adults, $5 for ages 6-12, free to members and children under 6.

Omaha Event: Saturdays at Stinson Concert Series: The Personics, 12 August

Continuing the series of Saturday night free concerts running from 7 – 10 pm. Bring chairs and blankets, an umbrella and coolers, but no glass, tents, or canopies. There’ll be food and drink vendors, as well as face-painting, balloon art, and playground equipment for the kids.

Omaha Event: Jazz on the Green, 10 August

This Omaha event is a free jazz concert at Turner Park in Midtown Crossing featuring up-and-coming jazz artists. You can set up your chair as early as 5 pm, with pre-show entertainment starting at 6:30, and the concert starts at 7:30. Parking is available in garages at 33rd & Farnam, 33rd & Harney, and Mutual of Omaha after 5 pm. Tonight’s act: Sammy Miller and the Congregation
