Omaha Interview: Chris Myers with Levy Restaurants at TD Ameritrade Park for College World Series

Thank you goes to Chef Chris Myers for his interview at TD Ameritrade Park, regarding food at the College World Series.

Quite a wonderful spread here again this year. What are some new favorites that you have created for us?

One of our signature items this year are Colossal Tots. They are giant tater tots. They come in three different flavors: buffalo- blue cheese. chili cheese and poutine which is gravy and cheese-always good on potato.

We also have NachOmaha which is giant nachos with steak and corn and we have some volcanic peppers hot sauce on it.

Any returning favorites?

We have some takes on some of the new stuff.  Our older stuff is just like pretzels. We have deep fried a pretzel and added a caramel applesauce with it.

So instead of just your pretzel and cheese you can get anywhere with doing it different like that.

It’s kind of a nice one.

Also our Colossal Tots are a really good one too.

How long have you been cooking and creating?

Myself? Pretty much my whole life. Professionally about 15 years.

What brought you to Levy?

Baseball. The idea of working in a ballpark was really cool.

What kind of challenges do you have with running things for a baseball park?

There’s a lot of complexities, There is concessions. There is a premium, which is suite and Club Level. They all have their own menus up there and there is a lot higher on food. There is feeding teams as well. … So there are a lot of moving parts.

What are some of the food items for the suites and clubs?

The suites- They have a lot of packages. So there’s a barbecue package with traditional items like pulled pork and what not.

But those have are some kind of neat things like in them where they have a giant meatball. We have a lot of salads as well.

There is of course hotdogs and hamburgers up there.

Some of the higher end stuff — there are buffalo chicken sliders and things like that.

When you think of making ballpark food amazing, what is going through your mind?

Fun. What do we like? What is fun? What do I put on top of things?

I noticed there was “Grains and Greens” as a menu item.

That is a salad that is going to be set up at our Action Stations. There are some similar salads also available in suites.  So on the Club Level, we have Action Stations set up with different menu at each station at every single game.

What is your favorite this year?

Probably the NachOmaha- the giant nacho. The giant tots are fun too.

Thank you very much.

CWS Media Tasting 2018: Great Food Meets the Greatest Show on Dirt

It was another outstanding performance of culinary expertise at TD Ameritrade Park for the College World Series at the CWS Media Tasting 2018. Levy Restaurants put forth some amazing delectable creations taking ballpark food up way beyond several notches.

As the saying goes, “you eat first with your eyes”.  Please enjoy our tasty pictures. Then go to the CWS and taste these wonderful creations yourself.

My personal favorites were:

No Crying in Baseball Dog-  There is no crying indeed even with all those onions. Chef Chris Myers has prepared a wonderful combination of sweet and spicy meets hotdog with of course- plenty of onions

Smoke Rings-  Smokey rings of onions will delight your palate. Sweet barbecue sauce copiously drizzled over perfectly golden onion rings. But that is not all . These golden beauties are sprinkled with pulled pork, smoked Gouda and bacon. But wait there is more. They are dusted with green onions and are sure to delight any fan.

All-American Pretzel- There are two surprises waiting for you with this already elevated Bavarian pretzel. Carmel apple dipping sauce and a fried  pretzel add a twist to the pretzel.

Impossible Burger- The mission if you accept it is to try this tasty burger.  Chef Chris Myers took on the mission impossible to create a veggie burger that has both the taste and texture of meat. Well done Chef!

Any gathering of this size needs its own band. The performance began with the Star Spangled Banner. Great heartfelt playing of our national anthem and Italian music.
