The Castle and Cathedral Creative District Art Walk takes place on Thursday September 14, 5 PM-8 PM.
From our friends at Josyln Castle:
”
Our newly designated Castle & Cathedral District is excited to welcome
the community to our first-ever Art Walk, Thursday, September 14 from
5pm-8pm!
Bring the entire family for an evening out in the Joslyn Castle
neighborhood along 40th Street, between Dodge and Cuming Streets.
District partners Cathedral Arts Project, Cali Commons, Joslyn Castle &
Gardens, and the Joslyn Castle Neighborhood Association (JCNA), are
looking forward to opening our venues for an evening of art, food, and
fun! Located along 40th Street will be several local food truck options!
The Art Walk includes:
* Cathedral Arts Project at the Sunderland Gallery – Join us for the
opening of “Plein Air,” a new exhibit featuring local plein air artists
including Paula Wallace, Tim Hantula, Janet Vadon, Marcia Wilson
Holliway, Julie Seevers, Kathleen Keller, Roberta Kramer, and more. Wine
and cheese will be served.
* Cali Commons – Artist September Show featuring an open-call
exhibition of local creatives. Want to participate? There’s an open call
for original art through September 11. Click here to submit a piece of
your work! [1] Beverages will be available.
* Joslyn Castle & Gardens – Meet our new district artist-in-residence
Watie White and visit his latest exhibition in our Carriage House! There
will also be several booths by local artists and live plein air painting
on the Castle grounds. Please also, tour our Unceded Native Garden in
the northeast corner of the property and view an outdoor exhibition from
the Unceded Artist Collective. Artist Tracy Haas will share her original
works, as well as answer questions about her design process for the new
Castle & Cathedral District brand identity.
In addition, there will be an outdoor bar, Dripps BBQ stand, and
Carriage Trade gift shop and gallery will be open to the public.
* Offutt Manor: Our friends at the Offutt Manor are hosting a plein
air art show featuring the works of local plein air artists on display
throughout the home. This is an excellent opportunity to explore the
stately historic home!

Please plan to attend the 4th Annual POW/MIA Ceremony on Friday September 15 at 11 am at Memorial Park. This will be a brief 45-minute ceremony to honor our fellow service members so they may never be forgotten. If your organization would like to place a wreath, please let me know, I will have 10 available for use.
Please plan to attend the City of Omaha Parks Veterans Shine On, Thursday November 2 at 6 pm at Memorial Park for a ceremony to honor our veterans. This year we are highlighting our Korean Veterans and the 70th Anniversary of the Korean Armistice. This is a beautiful and festive ceremony that includes singing and lighting of holiday lights and refreshments following.
